Dear Isotopers,
having in mind the possible damage caused by viruses dsitributed via
mailing lists, I think its a good idea not to use binary attachments at
all. Things are (slightly) different when mails are distributed purely
private as the damage will be restricted. I know of mailing lists where
messages that contain attachments simply are not accepted.
Another thing is the traffic on the net that is caused by such stuff as
most binary files by far exceed the few kB of an ordinary email written in
ASCII. Again I think this is acceptable when there is only one recipient.
