Peter,
My advice in running mass specs off of air compressors is to get a very
large one with a large tank and put it in another room or the basement.
Also make sure that you have some very good air filters to remove water and
oil. We tried running a MAT 251/Kiel autocarb and a MAT Delta + XL and two
ea's on a small Jun Air pump. The Jun Air was very quiet, but it was
running all the time and could not keep up with the demand. You may try a
larger pump if available. We finally installed a very large industrial type
of air compressor in the basement and ran lines up to the isotope lab and
have a very large air filter on the incoming line and then individual air
filters on each device.
This seems to work as along as the power does not go out, as the lab is on
a UPS and continues to run in a power outage, but the air compressor is not
and pretty quickly loses air pressure.
Good luck,
Bill
