No, I've run into this problem before. But, I did check here and for some
reason mine was about to fall out of the outertube. I now have it firmly in
place, and ~5mm gap between the outer tube and the upper mounting plate.

If I adjust mine like this it pops out of the guide tube when you withdraw
it. Should that metal guide tube be pointed up or down? Which caps should
be going through this guide and which should be going between the metal
guide and the inner tube?

Also, I know there are *many* variables involved here, but what pressure
range do you use on the dilutor? Again, this never seemed to be a huge
issue before, but now that I'm starting over again (so it seems) I'm
looking for any info from 'normal' working systems that I can find.
