There are actually 2 short-courses in isotope geochemistry being offered
this year at the Boston GSA: the two-day "geology-oriented" course
coordinated by John Valley and Dave Cole and sponsored by the MSA (as
described in a recent email posted by Andrea Lini), and a one-day
"environmental application-oriented" course co-sponsored (for the 6th time)
by the Hydrogeology Division of GSA,, as described below,. Something for
everyone!
Applications of Environmental Isotopes to Watershed Hydrology and
Biogeochemistry
Sunday, Nov. 4
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Hynes Convention Center.
This course will focus on practical applications of water, solute, and
biomass isotopes for
gaining a better understanding of the hydrology and biogeochemistry of
watersheds and
small basins. The wide range of discussion topics will include tracing
water sources and
pollutants, flowpath determination, biogeochemical reaction mechanisms, and
food-web
reconstruction.
Instructors: Carol Kendall and Tom Bullen (USGS, Menlo Park CA)
