Dear John,
To the best of my knowledge the original papers reporting on Hokko
beads have been published by J. Horita.
J. Horita, Chem. Geol. 72, 89 (1988)
J. Horita, Chem. Geol. 70, 107 (1989)
Charles Scrimgeour reported on the alternative (and less expensive)
use of Pt-on-alumina for equilibration of H2 with H2O.
C. M. Scrimgeour et al., Biol. Mass Spectrom. 22, 383 (1992)
More recently Charlie and his faithful combatant Ian "The Wonderboy"
Begley have published a method for on-line reduction of H2O for
delta2H and delta18O measurement using a CF-IRMS instrument.
I. S. Begley and C. M. Scrimgeour, Rapid Commun. Mass Spectrom. 10,
969 (1996)
