Dear Colleagues,
I wish to remind you that a couple of deadlines have just passed for the
AIG-2 SYMPOSIUM, .namely TITLES OF PROPOSED PAPERS and DEADLINE FOR
REDUCED REGISTRATION FEES.. For these, we can exercise a few days
discretion, but in fairness to those who have met the deadlines, we urge
you to contact us ASAP if you are interested in participating. We realize
that some of you do not have the information and we will gladly send it on
request.
Another Deadline is August 01 which relates to the Hotel's desire to free
up any temporarily reserved rooms which have not been taken.. Please try to
complete your hotel bookings as soon as possible as it will make our task
easier.
An update on participation...We have over 40 exciting titles from 8
countries. Although, we have papers for all suggested themes, some such
as oil/gas, environmental pollution, trees/plants, ecosystems (wet and
very arid), and some nifty analytical developments are shaping up into
sessions. The informal mini- oral presentations ( typically 5 min) have
received some interesting topics and we are considering listening to these
in a " very relaxed atmosphere" at an evening session.
We have been actively seeking support from local industry for this
Symposium which can hopefully help students attending and bring in
deserving colleagues from places where Canadian dollars or equivalent are
unavailable. We welcome sponsors. The more, we have, the more we can offer
everybody!
At this point we can accept a few more oral presentations essentially
because some of our local colleagues are willing to prepare posters
although they would prefer the oral format. We can accept many posters.
In summary, AIG-2 in Lake Louise is on. It is not too late to fully
participate but let's hear from you. Our sincere thanks to those who have
responded.
Roy Krouse.
