UM Kiel Problem:
Reed,
Have you checked you address card? When our Kiel was delivered it would
rotate the carousel when the power was turned on and would not stop until
Carbo1.tin was loaded and the set position 1 command was entered. The
address card has since failed and the replacement card did not do this, so
it appears that the original card always had a fault. We replaced two
chips and a resistor and it appears to work now. I understand that faults
with the carousel position in Kiel devices are usually traced to the
address card.
F MAT has obsoleted the old address card which cost $550 for an exchange
and now wants $1200 for a replacement card. We sent ours to Ohara Spec
services and they were able to find the defective components and replace
some of them, we had to replace the rest. There number is :
