Hi All,
We are organizing a special one-day symposium to honor Sam Epstein at
the GSA meeting to be held October 26-29, 1998, in Toronto, Canada. The
symposium is most appropriate at this particular GSA meeting because Sam
received his early training in both science and life in Canada (he grew up
here) and was recently elected a special Fellow of the Royal Society of
Canada. The symposium is to honor Sam, given both his Canadian and American
histories. It will include talks and posters and last the day. The theme
will be "How Sam's research is currently affecting my (our) own".
Basically, the symposium will focus on your sexiest current research that
has been directly influenced Sam. Given the scope of Sam's research, the
challenge will be choosing your best project rather than one that has been
influenced by Sam.

We anticipate the symposium will be very enlightening. The deadline for
abstracts is July 13. Meeting information can be found at the web site for
GSA (http://www.geosociety.org) or [log in to unmask] Should you
require additional information about this symposium, please contact one of
us at the email listed below (DO NOT RESPOND TO ISOGEOCHEM DIRECTLY--you
know who you are):

Frank Hawthorne [log in to unmask]
Kurt Kyser [log in to unmask]
Fred Longstaffe [log in to unmask]

Hope to see you there............
