The Queen's University of Belfast Investing in Excellence
The University is undertaking a major programme of investment to
enhance the quality of research and teaching, expanding areas of
excellence, and stimulate new developments in a range of academic
disciplines. Under this programme, the College of Engineering is
establishing a significant number of new posts.
Lectureships in Environmental Engineering
School of Civil Engineering
Applicants with a strong research background are invited to
apply for these posts, tenable from 1 October 1998, within th
dynamic and expanding School of Civil Engineering which has
an established reputation for quality research as indicated by
the granding of 4A in the 1996 Research Assessment Exercise.
The School has excellent laboratory and computing facilities,
including modern equipment for isotope hydrology and
contaminant hydrogeology.
POST 1
Senior Lectureship Post (Ref 98/PO68A)
(same as Associate Professor in N. America)
Applicants must have an honours degree or equivalent in hydrogeology,
civil engineering or related discipline and at least 8 years post primary
(B.Sc.) graduation in Environmental Engineering or a related area, with
an established research reputation as evidenced by high quality
research publications in prestigious journals and conferences
with the potential to publish at grade 5 level for the next RAE.
Applicants must also have a proven ability to win and
administer research grants. The following are desirable criteria:
a PhD. or equivalent, at lease 2 years teaching experience and
5 years research experience to include one or more of:
groundwater remediation, hydrogeology, aquifer protection
modelling, contaminant land remediation, in-situ bioremediation, natural
attenuation or reactive barrier technology
POST 2
Lectureship Post (Ref 98/PO69A)
(same as Assistant Professor in N. America)
Applicants must have an honours degree or equivalent in hyrogeology,
civil engineering or other related discipline and at least 2 years
post primary (B.Sc.) graduation in Environmental Engineering or a
related area with a strong research record including recent
high quality publications. The following are desirable cirteria: a
PhD or equivalent, at least 1 years teaching experience and
2 years research experience to include one or more of:
groundwater remediation, hydrogeology, aquifer protection
modelling, contaminant land remediation, in-situ bioremediation,
natural attenuation, or reactive barrier technology.

Salary Scale:
Lecturer Grade A 16,366 - 21,436 (pounds Sterling p.a.)
Lecturer Grade B 22,332 - 28,545 (pounds Sterling p.a.)
Senior Lecturer 29,968 - 33,866 (pounds Sterling p.a.)
