                                        "HUTTON  in  FRANCE"

                                FOURTH  HUTTON  SYMPOSIUM
                          on the Origin of Granites and Related Rocks

                                      20-25th SEPTEMBER 1999


After Edinburgh (Scotland), 1987, Canberra (Australia), 1991, and Maryland
(U.S.A.), 1995, the IVth Hutton International Symposium on the Origin of
Granites and Related Rocks will be held in Clermont-Ferrand (France) from
Monday, September 20th, to Saturday, September 25th, 1999.

This IVth Hutton Symposium will be devoted to current progress in the
Geology of Granitoids.

There will be one thematic session each half day. Each thematic session will
consist of both oral and poster presentations.

Four excursions will be organised to present the current research on
Hercynian granitoids of Western Europe :
- two pre-symposium excursions (14-18th September 1999)
in the Massif Central (Field-trip # 1) and the Pyrenees (Field-trip # 2),
- two post-symposium excursions (26-30th September 1999)
in Corsica (Field-trip # 3) and Brittany (Field-trip # 4).

One day mid-conference excursions will also be organised to visit the
Quaternary volcanoes in the vicinity of Clermont-Ferrand.
