Good morning/evening everyone,
It's now more than one year that I've slipped into a poorly advised MSc
thesis, but still I'm decided to finish. Having done experiments with
pigeons (as a model for migrating BIRDS) I meanwhile know, that for a
proper application of the method (see header, I mean by the NATURAL
ABUNDANCE of 13C, NO labled substrates !) many conditions have to be
considered (13C of food, feeding habits, methabolic state) and some others
are crucial for a validation (proper devices, 13C turnover and
fractionation in diverse tissues, RQ)
(Also, I am interested in the technical aspects of analysis, and ways of
application to other species - but that's a different story)
Unfortunately, there are no real specialists for the BIOLOGICAL STABLE
ISOTOPE PART of it in my country (Austria) which is what I'm looking for
now, and I may address the question to our list.
Hoping for replies - Helmut
