I was asked to analyse approximate concentrations of NH4 (NH3) and CO3 (CO2)
in a powder possibly containing ammoniumhydrogenecarbonate.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this properly?

My idea was to
* add H3PO4 in molar excess
* look for CO2 and NH3 with the TCD after separation on a packed
Haysep Q, just as we do breath CO2 analysis
* Use the IRMS if neccessary and look at 44 and 17

However, I do not know if NH3 is a proper gas to inject or if the MS can
look for NH3, if the TCD would not be sufficently sensitive.

Greatful for suggestions!
