To all interested in reagents
The stable isotope lab at Monash uses ClF3 and has since the days of Bob
Gregory. I have had no real problems with it since arriving here 5-6 years
ago. The conventional line can routinely run smallish (3-5 mg) samples of
most minerals and has had good success running some of the more tricky
minerals (magnetite, garnet etc). I used BrF5 in John Valley's lab and
can't really see much difference in performance. If anyone is interested in
our procedures please get in touch.
Cheers
Ian
