another one on noise reduction:
I can agree with Ken that some music helps a lot. I even use a combination
of counter-irritation and reduction: the ultimate solution:
.....earmuffs with radio and active noise control!!!
That was the best Xmas gift a boss ever gave me ;-)
Greetings,
Peter

Dear all
On the subject of noise reduction I like to use the principal of counter
irritation.
That is I put on my personal stereo and turn the volume to a setting which
overcomes
the noisy laboratory environment. I find this particularly suitable when
listening
to ZZ top or Aerosmith or something of that nature. I also find this has the
added
bonus of blocking the sound of ringing telephones and thus avoids
unnecessary
intrusions into my daily routine, of course on the down side you may not be
able
to hear the fire alarm in an emergency and so could conceivably be overcome
by fumes
or get burned to death should there be a fire, unless you have a keen sense
of smell
Hope this is of some use
