This is a laboratory research position to work with Profs M. Zhao and X. Feng
for at least two years.  He/she will join a team of organic/isotope geochemists
to study inorganic/organic compounds in coastal marine and lake sediments,
soils, soil gases, tree rings, and hard rocks.  We are looking for a motivated,
energetic and organized person to join a dynamic research group. A degree (BS
or MS) in chemistry/geochemistry and allied discipline is required and
expertise in chemical/isotope analysis, word and data processing skills is
preferable. Under supervision, perform the following duties:
        1. Operate/maintain/coordinate the use of an semi-automated sample
preparation system for the extraction and preliminary separation of organic
compounds from sediments and soils.
        2. Analyses and quantification of the target compounds using Gas
Chromatography (GC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS).
        3. Operate/maintain/coordinate the use of stable isotope extraction
lines, and conduct isotopic ratio analyses using an IRMS, an EA-IRMS or a
GCC-IRMS.
        4. Help train students for the use of the above laboratory facilities.
        5. Help with general laboratory maintenance.
Salary is in the range of $24,000 to $29,000 depending on experience. To apply,
