We have recurring problems with etched BaF2 windows. Some batches of
windows supplied by Crystran seem to be resiliant, others fog more easily.
I asked Chris Wallace of Crystran what they use as a polishing medium but
he would not say (trade secret), all he would admit to was that the
lubricant was non aqueous! We have used alumina / diamond paste with
isopropyl alcohol with reasonable success. Alternatively Crystran will take
used windows and repolish them for a small(ish) fee.
