Dear Andrea,
if you are going to use your stainless steel combustion tubes in the CE at
higher temperatures than 900 C, you might run into some trouble if you add
V2O5 to the sample to enhance oxidation. Within a few runs you will have
real holes in the tube, they are no longer gastight.
I don't know exactly what you need the high temperatures for, but an
alternative to the stainless steel tubes might be 99.9% Aluminumoxide
tubes, which are said to work properly up to 1500 ...1600 C.
I haven't tried them so far as for my sample preparation quartz tube -
working properly at temperatures about 1080...1100 C are o.k.
