Dear everyone,

the following is an update of the list of participants in the announced D/H ring
test. The new participants start with P. Chamberlain. I've taken Ty Coplen off
the list. He had responded to the D/H test in Isogeochem and I had interpreted
this as his application. Sorry for this.

D. Zhang
C. Kendall	B Spiro B. Vaughn	T. Heaton L.
Wassenaar

J. O'Neill B. Meyer K. Muehlenbachs	J. Valley

R. Drimmie	P. Dennis	I. Begley J. Morrison	M.

R. Michener

P. Chamberlain	S.M. Bernasconi	D.Rumble/M.Fogel	T. Heaton

We now have 42 labs in this list which is still open. The details of the test
still need to be clarified with the Messer Griesheim company. I will inform
ISOGEOCHEM accordingly when the time table is finished.
A quick comment to Tyler Coplens remarks:
His suggestion to have gases close to SMOW, SLAP and one at about -800 is very
good and I will try to get the gases with these compositions. Tyler also
suggested to have the results reported to the VSMOW/SLAP scale. I definitely
agree that this would be valuable information for each lab and for the community
since this would show how well we are intercalibrated. The goal of the test,
however was to separate the effects of sample prep from those of the errors of
the ms measurement. In order to fulfill both requirements I will issue a form
that allows to have the pure differences of the gases independent of the VSMOW
scale reported. In addition each participating lab is asked to give the values
also in relation to the international scale using their current standards. I do
not want to act as a distributor for the waters also.
