Dear Pat,
I suspect the ISOGEOCHEM views will be mixed with regards to replacement
filaments. While at Penn state, I (we) didn't seem to have such good luck
with Scientific Services rebuilts. Either the alignment was off, the
tension wasn't right, the gauge of wire wan't right or a bit of all three.
They usually arced, drooped or just plain broke. We (Denny Walizer) ended
up repairing our own filaments. He fashioned a jig and did the welding
himself. Result: replacement filament problems solved, students and
advisor all happier. I would recommend that you get intouch directly with
him ([log in to unmask]) and ask the wizard how he does it...
Best of luck, Bob Dias
