Hello,

I was looking through a folder of old, unread email and came across your
posting. I analyze the del13C of DOM from lakewaters that we filter through
.2 um filters using a home made freeze dryer. I have had pretty good success
with this method, but the drawback is that it requires a lot of starting
material. For one lake, I ususally need to dry about 3 L of water: that takes
some time. But I don't have a lot of samples, so I can manage. I am curious
if you've run across any other methods and if you wouldn't mind passing them
along (or at least references). Also, if you'd like more info on freeze
drying, check out a paper by Fry et. al in Marine Chemistry, 1994 I think; I
don't have the reference right here. In addition, I'd be happy to share my
experiences.

Regards,
Chris
