BIOGEOCHEMIST
$AUS45K - $57K Salary + Superannuation
CSIRO Land and Water, Adelaide, South Australia
A new research scientist position for a biogeochemist has been created,
based in the Adelaide Laboratory within the Sustainable Catchment
Management Program. This is a strategic appointment that recognizes the
important linkages that need to be developed between water, geochemical and
biological processes in developing catchment management strategies. The
successful applicant will initially work within a small team on a project
funded in part by the Land and Water R&D Corporation that addresses
biogeochemical processes affecting carbon and nitrogen cycling at the
surface water - ground water interface.
The appointee will have a recent PhD in a relevant scientific discipline,
good communication skills in English, and can demonstrate initiative in
developing and conducting field based research. Experience in the use of
natural stable isotope techniques would be an advantage. Some interstate
travel and extensive fieldwork is required.
Adelaide is a city of one million people with an enviable lifestyle and a
pleasant Mediterranean climate. The laboratory is located on an attractive
campus, 6km from the city center. There are close links with staff at
Flinders University and other institutions around Australia.
Closing date 30/7/1999
