Dear All,
Happy New Year to all.
New Year, new requests... I have a number of matters I am looking for
more info:
1- about the reaction Mg-phosphide + water giving phosphine, which is
directly measured in the mass spectrometer. Can anybody help me with a
copy of the reference in question, or other references (+ copies) if
existing? Any information about this method, of course, is also very
welcome.
2- Direct measurement of water mixed with alcohol in a mass spec,
resulting in 'reasonable accuracy' for H-isotopes as this reference told
me (I am wondering if that is true, and what about precision). Authors
given for a reference are: Washburn, Berry and Hall (not further
details...).
I have a copy of Schmidt and Boulay, 1981, Anal. Chem., 53, 2359-2361 on
a similar technique of mixed water - anhydrous 1-propanol (1:1 ratio)
measurement in a MS on metastable peaks: 60+. -42+.; 61+.-42+.;
62+.-42+.
Anybody who has a copy of this Washburn paper and/or more details on
this?
3- About hte socalled 'Grignard reagent'. (reported in Beynon, 1960) -
reaction with water results in methane or ethane, which is measured
directly in a MS. Has anybody references and/or copies about this
technque, or unpublished info?
I have the Friedman and Irsa, 1952, Anal. Chem., 24, 876-878.
I like to thank all who react on this in advance. At least I hope to get
some reactions from you people out there.... I know, it is material with
a lot of 'dust' on it, but I like to include matters in my book (and
maybe I remove some of the dust).
Pier de Groot.
