A useful place to start for references in this area is volume 30,
issue 8A of Organic Geochemistry (1999), including an article
concerning BTE by Harrington et al. Many of the research groups that
published in the Organic Geochemistry special issue are still very
active (especially the groups at Univ. of Waterloo and Univ. of
Toronto, as well as a number of groups in Europe), so a literature
search on those names will turn up a lot of references for you.

Cheers,
Simon Poulson
