Dear subscribers
I would like to measure the delta 14C in DIC of Etna's water samples, but I
don't how pretreate my samples. The only description I found is :
'The water samples were collected into 1-liter bottles. A 1-M filtered
solution of BaCl2 and NaOH was added to the samples to precipitate the
dissolved inorganic carbon as BaCO3. The precipitate was treated with
phosphoric acid on the AMS preparation line to evolve CO2.' (in
Sveinbjornsdottir and al., 1992, Radiocarbon, vol. 34, n°3, p696-703).
If someone has more details about this preparation or about another one?
Aline Pasquier-Cardin.
