Postdoctoral position available 1/1/98. One year appointment, with funding
in place from the Earth Systems History program at NSF for one to two
additional years upon demonstration of satisfactory progress.

Research involves determination of stable isotope ratios of silicon in
diatoms from cultures grown under defined conditions in the lab and from
cores spanning the Holocene and the last glacial maximum. The objectives of
the research are to evaluate the utility of silicon isotopes in diatoms as
a proxy for diatom silicic acid use in past oceans. Mail or fax resume,
