The file recovery feature is a good utility but it does not always fix the
problem. To really clear up corruption you can try and clone the database,
with no records and then export all of your data in dbf or tab format. The
export strip away much of the coding that might be corrupt. Then open the
clone and import the data.
FileMaker can work in small groups over file sharing but using the server is
really the way to go. The server has a backup utility that will backup your
files automatically which also helps in the event of corruption. If you are
using regular backup software you need to be sure to close your files before
the backup starts. FileMaker's backup utility closes the files automatically
and then reopens them after the backup.
