We are currently using GroupWise for staff and we don't offer e-mail accounts for students. We are using Novell's product called NetMail (formerly NIMS Novell Internet Messaging System) for listservs but it is a full blown ISP level E-mail system, that can be accessed by most e-mial clients including Netscape and Eudora. If you have the school license agreement, with GroupWise you also receive licensing for NetMail. You can try it out at http://www.myrealbox.com.

For staff and teachers, GroupWise is great.

To start another discussion, what are people doing for email programs at
their schools.

We are currently using Netscape composer 4.7 for email. We looked at
Netscape 6.x and have found that it does not work. Netscape has been very
good for the users, to have one product for browser, email, composing, but
we are starting to see web browsing problems with Netscape 4.7 and Java
scripts because of the age of Netscape 4.7. We have a mixture of iMacs and
PC's. Our email is hosted by Govnet.

There are lots of ongoing worries about MS Outlook and Outlook Express being
the vehicle of choice for viruses.

My question is what about Eudora, or other simple email programs?
