Yale German Studies in Berlin! Yale University's Department of German
Studies and Yale Summer Programs, in conjunction with Brown University
Summer Studies, would like to announce a 5-week program for Summer 2002 in
Berlin titled "The City of Berlin: Culture and the Arts in Historical
Context." The class is an introduction to Berlin as the cultural center of
the reunited Germany, with excursions to various cultural sites including
museums, memorials, and newly constructed and renovated cultural centers.
Classes will be conducted in English with the option of a section for
students with sufficient German. Students will also attend various
performances in theaters, cinemas, and concert halls. The class meets a
little more than 2 hours a day, Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and the
session runs from June 3rd to July 5th. Tuition cost is $1600 (3
credit-hours), and additional expenses include flight, books, room and
board (500 euros for a small apartment), and other incidentals. Application
deadline is May 13th.
