Hello,
My name is Derek Pinkham from the UVM Band Kwilt. I live in Slade Hall on
campus
and the rest of my band goes to UVM. We are a rock quartet consisting of
guitar, bass, piano, and drums. We are interested in putting on a special, end
of the semester concert called Kwiltfest. I am in touch with a local quilters
guild and know many people who quilt and would love to come and learn about
quilting. I also have a friend, Nancy Hayes, who works for UVM and is glad to
help us with quilt demonstrations, teachings, discussions, etc. My girlfriend,
Chelsie Henderson, is also a community council member for Hamilton (President)
and she will be doing her part in getting food/drinks/fun activities, etc. The
ideal place to have this event, because many local people will want to come
(quilters) would be the main green. However, I think it would be wise to have
this event on the Redstone green, outsid of WDW, because it is easily
accessable for students, and there will be easy access for local people. It
would be a great idea to have this event all through the day, however, Kwilt
should be the only band because in between our 3 sets of live improvisational
music there will be quilting demonstrations, and talks about the symbolism of
quilts from professional quilters and antique quilt collectors. It is very
important that we leave them enough space to properly inform students and local
quilters of the importance of quilts.

Please call me at 656-6398 or email me.
I can send you a demo ASAP.
I am planning the first meeting with Chelsie and Nancy for the first week in
February. It would be great if someone from CAT could sit in on the meeting. We
also need some direction as to who to talk to about a stage, and about
permission and security for the event. We are aiming to make this a fun,
educational, and end-of-the-semester relaxing event.

I appreciate your time and energy with this.

Thank you,
Derek Pinkham and Kwilt
