Sharing on behalf of Tiffany Tuttle and the First Nations' Collective:

Dear Community,

The UVM First Nations' Scholarship is a donor established scholarship to support new or current UVM students who demonstrate interest in impacting communities of Indigenous peoples. This interest could be focused on pursuing work as a future educator, social service leader, health practitioner, or any type of work which centers the well-being of Indigenous students, families, and communities.

Eligible students must pursue a degree at UVM and may re-apply each year for continued financial support as they complete their degree requirements at UVM. New and current UVM students are able to apply. Students must remain in good academic standing and maintain appropriate progression toward degree completion to receive the scholarship. The amount of financial aid awarded to a student from all sources in a given year cannot exceed the estimated annual costs of attending.

*Application deadline is Friday, February 17, 2023.*

Preference will be given to students that meet the following criteria:

Interested in issues impacting communities of Indigenous peoples

Identify as Indigenous/Alaskan Indigenous

Applicants can be in pursuit of any major available at UVM, but preference will be given to students pursuing a College of Education and Social Services (CESS) degree

A high school diploma or GED

Pell-eligible or those with demonstrated financial need, as indicated by a statement of purpose for financial need and a FAFSA form

In good academic standing (with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 2.0)
