Colleagues, the We All Belong AmeriCorps program is just bringing on 
some really wonderful new AmeriCorps opportunities. Please help spread

*Outreach Assistant, Full Time Position*

***_The Greater Burlington YMCA_*

The Greater Burlington YMCA (GBYMCA) serves the community in many ways: 
running afterschool programs, summer camps, workout facility and weekly 
fitness classes. The Y serves youth, families and people at all ages and 
backgrounds. Yet the Y envisions doing a better job serving the 
community. This AmeriCorps member will help the GBYMCA identify ways its 
youth programs can be more accessible to the community, staff hiring can 
be more equitable and representative of our diverse population. The 
GBYMCA is looking for an individual who is able to work independently, 
is an excellent communicator and seeks to build community partnerships. 
The member will do program assessment, work with current staff as well 
and do outreach to program participants. They will help reduce barriers 
to participation, such as helping families access state childcare 
subsidy. The member will also help recruit staff members that better 
reflect the diversity of our community.Being knowledgeable about the 
Vermont community and being comfortable in engaging with a range of 
diverse groups is important, as the member will be expected to attend 
meetings and events in the community to inform and market GBYMCA 
services. The ideal candidate must be able to provide their own 
transportation and commit to a flexible work schedule and to meet the 
needs of the community.

*Accessibility & Outreach Coordinator, Full Time Position*

*_Vermont Center for Crime Victim Services_*

Support Vermont’s ability to serve victims of crime by serving at the 
Vermont Center for Crime Victim Services (VCCVS). VCCVS continues to 
explore how to deliver more culturally competent and accessible services 
to victims of crime. The AmeriCorps member will focus internal and 
external on this effort. Internally they will assess programs, policies, 
and practices to identify areas to strengthen. The member will share 
resources and training for staff to support staff explore racial equity, 
cultural competency, diversity and access for people with disabilities. 
Externally, the member will coordinate community outreach to underserved 
communities, particularly to ethnic/racial minorities, those with 
Limited English Proficiency and people with disabilities and vulnerable 
adults. The member will assist VCCVS staff members in implementing 
activities that are part of an ongoing federal grant that seeks to make 
the Vermont Victim's Compensation Program more accessible. The ideal 
candidate will have experience working across cultures and difference. 
They will be a systems thinker, organized, and a good communicator.This 
position is based in Waterbury, Vermont and will need a vehicle to 
travel to outreach events.

*Program Coordinator, Full Time Position*

The member will have primary responsibility for the design and delivery 
of our workforce development programs to include the Career Center and 
the Suiting Program. The Coordinator should have strong programming, 
interpersonal, and administrative skills, as well as strong skills in 
written and oral expression. S/He should have an understanding of issues 
affecting women new to the work environment. The position also requires 
computer literacy, an understanding of career database software and 
on-line resources, and the willingness to respond to the needs of our 
clients, service agencies and potential employers. Responsibilities 
include: Develop partnerships with area agencies and recruitment of 
clients for services. Develop and conduct educational programming, 
workshops and seminars. Develop, market, and administer recruiting 
programs. Develop and oversee career services resource library, keeping 
all Career Services publications up to date. Maintain career services 
databases. Prepare, review and submit reports and records of activities 
to ensure goals and improvement plans are being met.  Protect the 
confidentiality of information with areas of position responsibilities 
by preventing unauthorized release, both verbally and/or in writing. 
Receive donations of clothing, maintain stock, update displays, and 
prepare items for quarterly sale. Suit women referred to the affiliate 
from partnering organizations. Manage the scheduling of appointments for 
clients across both programs. Deliver orientations for new partnerships.

*Education and Outreach Coordinator, Full Time Position*

*_ReSOURCE: A Nonprofit Community Enterprise_*

The Education and Outreach Coordinator will explore new ways ReSOURCE 
can provide education and job skills training opportunities to 
underserved populations within Chittenden County and outlying areas. 
Specifically these populations are: 1. recently arrived youth and adult 
refugees (defined as those who have arrived in the past 5 years), 2. 
youth or adults who are completing their high school education outside 
traditional high school settings, and 3. un- or underemployed youth and 
adults who need job skills training to find and keep sustainable 
employment. These are new initiatives for ReSOURCE and will require 
extensive work with community agencies. A natural ability and openness 
to communicate through language barriers, demonstrate respect for 
individuals, cultures and communities, and a willingness to engage in 
creative problem solving are critical skills for this placement.

*Diversity, Accessibility and Outreach Coordinator, Part Time Position*

*_Department of Burlington Parks Recreation and Waterfront, The 
Burlington Area Community Garden Program_*__

Help make Burlington’s Community Gardens more welcoming and accessible 
to all residents. Burlington involves over 1000 gardeners at 14 sites 
each year. Gardeners tend to their own plot to grow produce for their 
families while participating in community experience with fellow 
gardeners. Burlington’s community gardeners are a culturally diverse 
group and create meaningful connections to the land and each other. The 
role of this member is to improve relations among community gardeners, 
site leaders, and improve the Burlington Community Garden Program to be 
more accessible and inclusive.

  This AmeriCorps member will serve part time based in the Burlington 
Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department. The focus of this position 
is to improve access to ethnic/racial minorities and communities with 
limited English proficiency. The member will organize outreach events 
with community partners, develop new partnerships and look for best 
practices from community garden programs across the country. The ideal 
candidate should be familiar with dynamics of cultural differences, and 
be an advocate for social and economic justice. The member must be 
organized, able to take initiative, and the capacity to work 
independently with limited supervision. The member does not need 
gardening expertise.  The member will need to communicate effectively 
across cultures and ideally be multi lingual in English and any of the 
following languages: Kirundi, Maay Maay, Vietnamese, Burmese or Nepali

*Housing Coach, Part Time Position*

*_Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity, Mobile Home Program_*

The Mobile Home Program is seeking a member to educate mobile home 
residents about their rights and responsibilities under Vermont mobile 
home and landlord/tenant law. The member will help residents connect 
with other community resources when they identify health and safety 
violations, home repair, rehabilitation purchase and financing needs. 
The member will maintain and build new relationships with social service 
organizations to increase the web of support for residents. Ideal 
applicant will have a commitment to social justice, desire to build 
community and improve quality of housing for mobile home residents. We 
are seeking candidates with relevant experience in low income advocacy, 
housing counseling, community-focused education or social services*. 
*The member must have good computer and information technology skills. 
The member must have the ability to quickly learn and maintain a solid 
working base of technical knowledge, including related statutes, rules 
and regulations. The member should be motivated and able to work 
independently and in a team.  Hours for this position can be flexible 
requiring some weekends and evenings. This member will need a vehicle to 
travel around the state.*__*

*Equity Data Report and Hiring Support Specialist, Full Time Position*

*_Burlington School District(BSD) _***

The Burlington School District is actively working to create an 
environment where all children can thrive. In 2012 BSD completed its for 
Equity and Inclusion report that identified achievement gaps persist 
based on race, class and other identities. This AmeriCorps member will 
be part of the Diversity, Equity and Community Programs office to 
address this issue. They will assist the Director of Diversity Education 
and Engagement with the annual review of student achievement and 
identify actions for the district. The member will serve in a 
coordinating role for the Equity Data Report Advisory committee to track 
data and create an annual Equity and Inclusion Report. The member will 
also assist the Senior Director of Diversity, Equity and Employee 
Relations with recruitment and hiring of Burlington School District 
teaching staff. The District seeks to have a staff that reflects the 
diversity of our student body. The AmeriCorps member will support the 
hiring process and monitor hiring teams to ensure an equitable process. 
In addition, the member will conduct outreach and support for new 
teachers support teacher retention.

*AmeriCorps Benefits: *

Full Time AmeriCorps positions are 1700 hours of service from September 
2014 thru August 2015. Member benefits include a $12,300 living 
allowance and a $5,645 Education Award (upon successful completion of 
service) that may be used for qualified educational expenses or payment 
of qualifying student loans. Full time positions must be filled by 
11/10/14. If they are filled after this date, positions will become 900 
Hour positions. Part Time AmeriCorps positions are 900 hours of service 
from November 2014 thru August 2015. Part time benefits include a $6,519 
living allowance and a $2,822 Education Award. We All Belong AmeriCorps* 
members join a team of 16 other members, each serving in agencies and 
organizations across the Greater Burlington, Vermont area.
