Hey everyone,
Hope you are all enjoying your summer. I wanted to give you all an update
on what's been going on and how to get involved this summer. The trip team
had a very successful assessment trip in Nicaragua. The community is very
responsive to our grey water project and the University students we worked
with are very engaged too. This partnership has great potential and I look
forward to what will come from our continued efforts.
We have dropped water samples off at Endyne labs in Williston for analysis
and we are trying to get the UVM Agriculture and Environmental Testing Lab
to run analysis on our soil samples right now. The trip team met the other
day and decided we want to get more members involved, especially those
interested in traveling on the next trip. The trip team is putting together
the required post-assessment report now, which will hopefully give a good
overview of the trip and the project for everyone. Our goal is to work on
the design and paperwork for the next trip with all of you over the summer.
We will be pushing for our implementation trip in January 2015 and would
like to bring more students this time too. This is ambitious, but I think
it is definitely possible.
For those in Burlington this summer, we will be having meetings every week
or so to keep our momentum moving. Even if you are not around you could
still help with our online reports to come. The way to get most involved is
probably with the alternative analysis report where we come up with many
different solutions and analyze the pros and cons of each. In order to
bring more students and raise money for the project we will also be
searching for corporate sponsors this summer. If you have any connections
with any companies or businesses let us know so we can set up a meeting!
If we plan to travel on an implementation trip (525) in: January 2015
We must submit the 523 - Alternatives Analysis Report no later than
Sunday, August 17th
We must submit the 524 - Preliminary Design Report no later than Sunday,
September 14th
We must submit the 525 - Pre-Implementation Report no later than Sunday,
October 12th
You can find all of these documents on ewb-usa website under project
process source book downloads.
I know that's a lot of information so thanks for reading and I look
forward to working with everyone this summer and the continued success of
EWB!
