Class of 2013,

I hope that the summer has been awesome so far and that you are starting 
to get excited about this upcoming year! As you may know by now, 
Convocation is a grandiose ceremony for you where prominent figures on 
campus get the opportunity to welcome you to UVM.

Traditionally, the author of the summer book is the keynote speaker at 
Convocation. This year Tracy Kidder, the author of Mountains Beyond 
Mountains, will be our keynote speaker. If you haven’t read the book yet 
I highly encourage you to, as it is definitely a page-turner. The 
exciting part is that you will have the opportunity to submit any 
question that you would like answered by Mr. Kidder to me and I will 
choose a hand full of them to ask the author after his speech. Be sure 
to include your name, hometown, and state, so I can acknowledge you when 
the question is asked.
