Greetings all:
I have received the usual packet of fellowship information and
announcements from the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and
want to draw students' attention in particular to the Athenian Agora
Volunteer Program. Approximately 35 volunteers are chosen each summer to
participate. They receive free room and board and training in
archaeological methods while working on digs in the Agora under the
direction of John Camp. Transportation to and from Greece is the
volunteer's own responsibility. One of my former students participated in
this program and he had a wonderful experience that in fact led to his
participation on other digs in Greece and on Crete. If you would like to
peruse the information, I have left photocopies of the bulletin and
application form in the Classics Department office.
Best wishes,
Mark Usher
