Dear Alexandra and Peter,
what concerns the 18O of Red Sea water we published some data a few years ago:
Ganssen, G., and Kroon, D., 1991: Evidence for Red Sea surface circulation
from oxygen isotopes of modern surface waters and planktonic foraminiferal
tests. Paleoceanography, 6,1, 73-82.
Unfortunately the quality of our salinity data did not allow for a regression.
A new data set from a 1992 expedition, however does.
The relationship is:
18O (V-SMOW) = 0.3056 salinity - 10.774 (r2=0.97, n=23).
More details available on request.
Kind regards
Gerald Ganssen
