Researcher/ Associate Professor in Coastal Biogeochemistry - Australia
We invite applications from candidates with an international reputation and
an outstanding research track record for this exciting new position at
Southern Cross University. The University has identified Coastal
Biogeochemistry as one of its areas of research strength. A new position in
Coastal Biogeochemistry has been created to enhance this area of research
strength. The position is being offered at the Senior Researcher/ Associate
Professor level, but suitable applicants at the researcher level are also
encouraged to apply. The position will be based in The Centre for Coastal
Biogeochemistry in the School of Environmental Science and Management. The
emphasis of this position is on world-class research, high impact
publications and obtaining external nationally competitive funding. The
appointee's research background and proposed area of research should
compliment existing research in the Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry. We
are currently working in estuaries, mangroves, seagrass beds, nearshore
coastal waters, coral reefs, and wetlands.
The University is ideally suited for coastal biogeochemistry research with
state-of-the-art instrumentation (e.g. a new stable isotope facility with
two WCO/ GC-c/ EA-IRMS (Thermo Delta V) with full technical support,
membrane inlet mass spectrometer (MIMS)) and newly completed well-equipped
inorganic and organic chemistry laboratories.
Southern Cross University is based in Lismore, northern NSW, Australia. The
region is a great place to live with a sub-tropical climate, some the best
beaches and surfing in the world and there is also great fishing, scuba
diving and wilderness areas nearby. The quality of life is very high and
the cost of living relatively low.
Initially a 3-year research only fixed-term appointment is offered with the
level of appointment depending on qualifications and experience. The
opportunity exists for this position to convert to a continuing teaching and
research position in the School of Environmental Science and Management
subject to performance and funding.
The starting date is flexible and will be negotiated with the successful
candidate.
