Dear Friends of Irving,

The invincible Irving Friedman finally exceeded his nine lives, passing
away on June 29. The Denver Post printed the following:

"Irving was born on January 12, 1920, in New york City and died on June 29,
2005 at his home in Lakewood [Colorado]. He received a PhD in geochemistry
from the University of Chicago, then was with the U.S. Geological Survey
for over 40 years. Rita, his wive of 59 years, survives him. A full
obituary will be published separately, and a memorial celebration will be
held at a later date. Contributions may be made to PBS or your favorite
charity."
