Dear isotopists and ornithologists,
Recently a colleague collected some bird bones from the Galapagos and
stored them in ethanol. They would like us to run the collagen for
carbon and nitrogen isotope values. Although collagen should be
resistant to short-term exposure to ethanol, I'm not sure that the
material has not been compromised in some way. Does anyone have any
such experience or information on whether ethanol will affect
collagen isotope values?
Thanks in advance,
Bill
