Howie:

We had SIS (Scientific Instrument Services, Inc.) repair a filament for us
about six years ago. It was a great deal ($25) but our sensitivity was
about half what it was with a new filament. At the time, others had had
the same experience. With the price of new filaments, it would be nice to
be able to repair filaments. We used to repair Nuclide filaments
ourselves. Perhaps it is an alignment problem with the Finnigan filaments.
I'm curious if anyone has had better success with SIS repairs in recent
years.

Regards,

Ethan
