Innovative uses of environmental isotopes in hydrology 

Description: 
Environmental isotopes have been used extensively for identifying sources 
and processes controlling the movement of water and contaminants in the 
hydrologic cycle.  Though widely used, isotopic measurements and 
applications still are changing rapidly.  New analytical procedures 
provide access to more compounds and to more subtle isotope variations. 
New datasets provide evidence for previously unrecognized isotopic 
effects.  New experiments involving both ?natural isotope abundance? 
measurements and ?deliberate isotope tracer? injections reveal 
increasingly complex transport and reaction scenarios in the environment. 
This session provides a forum for research aimed at expanding the scope of 
isotopic applications in hydrologeology and biogeochemistry, through 
development of techniques and creative applications.
