The following position is available at the University of
Wales - Bangor, School of Ocean Sciences. United Kingdom.

Salary will be in the range for Research Assistant 1A which
is 15,159 to 22,785 pounds sterling p.a.

A three year Postdoctoral Position is available to
investigate carbon cycling at the deep ocean boundary layer
as part of a NERC Thematic programme: BENthic BOundary layer
BENBO).

Determination of sediment and pore water concentrations and
isotopic composition of particulate inorganic and organic
carbon, dissolved inorganic and organic carbon will be used
in conjunction with
a] sediment incubation experiments to examine bacterial
utilisation and production of carbon
b] diffusion coefficient estimates and benthic chamber
deployments to examine the dynamics of carbon cycling at the
sediment-water interface.

Candidates will be expected to have experience in some or
all of the following:  geochemistry of pore waters, stable
isotope techniques and carbon cycling, including dissolved
organic carbon.  Experience of working at sea would also be
an advantage.
