Bailey-Howe also has this old classic that might help you if you're
sticking with csh/tcsh:

I don't shell script very much at all, and the Anderson book has been
a helpful reference.

As a very infrequent programmer, I've gone that route (mainly because ArcGIS
now makes use of Python), and I'm amazed at how elegantly simple Python
looks in comparison with Perl.
