Corel has made changes to its WordPerfect product line that may have
important consequences for WordPerfect users here at UVM.

Corel is marketing a special version of its product line targeting academic
users with special pricing. This special edition of their product has some
important limitations that you should be aware of before making a purchase:

o Customers who purchase an "Academic Edition" of WordPerfect will NOT
have access to the free telephone support that purchasers of the commercial
  package receive.

o The "Academic Edition" does NOT include manuals for the products. Manuals
  must be purchased separately.

o Customers must purchase the product on CD-ROM. If a customer needs
the product on diskette, these can be purchased subsequently.

Our current information indicates that UVM affiliates who purchased
WordPerfect licenses from CIT through the CAP program will have continued
access to Corel's telephone technical support.

CIT continues to offer limited support for WordPerfect versions that were
current when the CAP program ended. However, our access to dedicated
support from the vendor ended with the CAP program. For details on CIT's
support for word processing, please review our document "Directions in Word
Processing Support" at <http://mole.uvm.edu/~gcd/wp/directions.html>.

The following is a quote from Corel's Web site describing the Academic
Edition of WordPerfect Suite for Win95. The same limitations exist for
their Academic Edition of WordPerfect for Windows 3.1.

point and is shipped:
