For several days Microsoft's website claimed the company would end support
for Windows XP (yes, XP) on December 31, 2006 but now they are correcting
themselves after there was mass confusion in the IT and consumer
community.

According to the article, the post on Microsoft's site was "a mistake" and
has been changing the support site to clarify its statement. There is no
new sunset date given in the article.
