Chris,

I'd suggest instead of the mega cord, go with a wireless gateway and a 
USB wireless adapter.  You'd be nuts not to have a gateway simply for 
the protection a NAT device provides.  Almost all of them come with 
wireless capability for around $50.  The USB network adapter, which 
looks like a slightly large thumb drive, also runs about $50.  Added 
benefits (and potential problems if not configured in a secure manner) 
are wireless coverage all over, and the ability to easily add more 
computers.
