We basically allow people to renew books as often as they like as long as someone else has not requested it, which generally means that people can't renew high-volume books like certification test prep books (which are on reserve and loaned for 2 weeks), but if they feel like holding on to a more obscure title for a couple of months, that's fine with us.
We do not, however, have many new basic textbooks in our collection - our collection is focused on supporting clinical needs - and we don't purchase new textbooks on request or order them through ILL. We do try to steer students towards their university library and encourage them to ask whether required books are on hold or on reserve.

Hi All,
I was wondering:
1) How long do you loan books?
2) Do you renew books?
Right now, our check out length is 28 days for 99% of our titles and we renew everything except the life support books. Some staff have been taking advantage and using our books for school and asking for more than one renewal, which is also 28 days.
I was just wondering what your loan policies are.
Thank you and I hope a safe and STRESS-FREE weekend for all of you!
Shel
