I use only pens on a "chain" (I dropped from using 100 pens a month to 1
for 6 months when I started this) and old catalog cards and cut up trash
copier/printer paper for "notepads".  My best advice for note paper
though is to wear cloths with pockets and keep 3x5 cards in your pockets.
