Hi Robert and colleagues:
You might want to check out the section, "What to do if you don't match?" in the now-classic text, ISERSON'S GETTING INTO A RESIDENCY: A GUIDE FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS (8th edition).
It contains information not only for those that don't match, but also important information for THOSE THAT DO MATCH.
These are two direct links to the book and some additional information that medical students may find useful.

Subject: Advice for med students who don't match
Hello colleagues,
We are coming up on match season, and some faculty have asked for help in searching for literature on advice for medical students who don't match during match season? I'm still a fairly new health sciences librarian, and this is a bit out of the sphere of health sciences literature I've been searching for up to now. I was hoping someone could help get me started by pointing me in the right direction to get me started. I appreciate any help anyone can give. Thank you,
Sincerely,
Rob Morrisette
