One of our VA Librarians, Janet Schneider, contacted Delicious and received this
response which she gave permission to share.

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Delicious.

I understand that you have heard rumors about Yahoo! shutting down Delicious and
want to take a backup of your Delicious bookmarks. We're genuinely sorry to have
these stories appear with so little context for our loyal users.

No, we are not shutting down Delicious. While we have determined that there is
not a strategic fit at Yahoo!, we believe there is a ideal home for Delicious
outside of the company where it can be resourced to the level where it can be
competitive.

We promise to keep you posted as future plans get finalized and encourage you to
check the Delicious blog for the latest updates:

   http://blog.delicious.com

However, if you still wish to export your bookmarks from Delicious so you can
back them up or import them into your browser:

1. Go to the Delicious site, and login with your user name and password:

   http://delicious.com

2. Click "Settings" in the top-right corner.

3. On the next page, under the "Bookmarks" heading, click "Export/Backup."

4. Select it if you want to include your tags and notes in the exported file,
and click "export to HTML."

5. You should now be prompted if you want to save the file. Select a location
where you can later find the document, and select "Save."

You have now exported your bookmarks into a file on your computer, which you can
import into your browser bookmarks if you wish:

For Internet Explorer:

1. Go under "File," and select "Import and Export."

2. Select "Next," then "Import Favorites," then "Next" again.

3. On the following page, click on "Browse," then locate the HTML document you
exported from Delicious.

4. Click "Next" again, then "Finish."

If you find you have any difficulties with this process, please reply, so we can
assist you further.

Thank you again for writing to Delicious.

Regards,

Florence

Question:  is Delicious really going away, and if so when?  Is there a way of
migrating our bookmarks as a download or to another social bookmarking site?
