Greetings from the new editor of the Public Services Section newsletter!
Many thanks to Margaret Vugrin and JoAnn Van Schaik for their hard work on
the newsletter over the past five years.

The copy deadline for submissions for the next issue of the newsletter is
July 21, 1999 -- just a month away. This is your newsletter and its
continued high quality will depend on the material that I receive from
you.

Please feel free to submit brief articles on any topic to me via e-mail or
U.S. mail. Reports or other commentary regarding the MLA annual meeting
in Chicago would be welcome, for instance. I will also gratefully accept
IDEAS for articles or other newsletter items (e.g., lists of useful Web
sites, NLM news, etc.).

One idea that originated from the Public Services Section survey is for
members to pose questions that they would like others to answer. If you
have a public services-related question or problem that has been haunting
you, send it to me via e-mail. I will then choose one of the questions I
receive and post it to PSSMLA and MEDLIB-L to elicit responses. The
question and selected answers will then be included in the newsletter and
posted to PSSMLA and MEDLIB-L.

The advantage of publishing this information in the newsletter, as opposed
to just posting to the discussion groups is that not everyone in the
Public Services Section subscribes to the discussion groups. It is also
hard to systematically follow a subject thread on a busy listserv such as
MEDLIB-L.

This is just a thought. If you have other ideas, let me know!
